2/4/2024 0 Comments Codec hevc per windows 10Also one has to have a stronger machine to cope with HEVC as opposed to using MP4 and Magix has tried to make their product useful on as many machines as possible for those trying to run older hardware. Magix has obviously gone for the latter option. They can include it in the price which pushes up the base price or decide to make it an option. Other companies have to pay for each licence used. Some of those companies like Adobe were a part of that group and have the rights to use it without having to pay. The codec has never been free as it is the property of the people who created it. Second, the codec is included in the VPX edition of the program and all Pro versions of Vegas, but not the Movie Studio version so as to keep the initial price of the product down as not everyone needs it. No-one there will probably see this post. Not a direct line to Magix or their employees. Not mad about it, it's just very although is a forum moderator he is not an employee of Magix but just another user. Your competitors have no issue loading these files, so, maybe take a few notes and try to be better? Or is what you're saying that adding that codec would make your application worse? I'm, again, confounded. I've tried around 5 different video editing applications and this is the only one that couldn't load a file I shot on my phone. ![]() Sorry MAGIX, I'll keep my 8bucks.Īlso, the response, "uh, we don't know why ALL the other applications are able to load your file" is strange. Not ideal but it is what it is if you ended up stuck with this app thinking the CODEC would be included. I just used the Microsoft Game Bar to record it again. In case anyone else is here with the same issue, a workaround I've found is to re-record it using a different codec using a separate application. All it says is essentially, sorry, your file won't work. Especially if you're error isn't giving ANY sort of information to remediate the issue. ![]() ![]() Most people won't take the time to write in these forums and would just say, oh well, it's broken. So you may want to change the verbiage on that error message or just include the dang codec. I shot this video on my phone, like, I dunno, millions of people are doing. However, there doesn't seem to be any guarantee that when I buy it outright, the codec will be included in that purchase which is strange and confounding. I'm trying this out on the trial license and was actually intending to purchase. It seems this error still is showing up as of about a year ago. ![]() Just skip/ignore any of those requests.Īfter this, try playing your HEVC h.Hello johnebaker. You do NOT need to sign up and do NOT need to create microsoft account to install this codec. HEVC Video Extensions from Device ManufacturerĬlick the link above (its directly on ), choose GET, open the MICROSOFT STORE, choose INSTALL and then choose LAUNCH. When you try to play the video, Windows Movies & TV app opens, but says it can not play it and that you need to purchase a $0.99 plugin from the Microsoft Store.īut there is actually a FREE version of codec that you can install/launch from the Microsoft Store as well (but of course they do not tell you about it). I was having an issue where my Windows 10 computer would not play HEVC h.265 video.
